NPEU Officers Condemn ICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. The officers of the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union, IFPTE Local 70, AFL-CIO & CLC, condemn the aggressive and fatal tactics in U.S. immigration policy. The arrogance and state-sponsored violence associated with these policies are not anomalies; they are deeply entrenched in historical legacies.
The Department of Homeland Security is waging a brutal campaign against immigrants, Indigenous peoples, Black Americans, marginalized communities, and the very concepts of civil liberties and human rights. They continue to escalate the climate of oppression that has become the defining feature of the Trump Administration.
The administration’s investment in and use of ICE as a domestic secret police force is an ongoing threat not only to the work we do, but to the lives of those we cherish. Since Trump’s inauguration last year, ICE and related agencies are responsible for the death of more than 40 people. This state-sponsored violence has occurred on the street and even more in immigration prisons. None of these deaths had to happen, it is a direct result of a mass-deportation system designed to fuel corporate profits.
We stand in solidarity with the movements to abolish this unjust order. ICE must be defunded, demilitarized, and dismantled.
As we continue into 2026, we encourage all NPEU members to take action alongside other people of conscience, take care of yourselves, and take care of each other. If you are in the position to donate to support the work in Minneapolis, you can find a long list of projects in Minneapolis at standwithminnesota.com.
Solidarity posters are available on the NPEU member’s site. Login here to download a poster.
