J Street and Staff Union Announce Ratification of New Collective Bargaining Agreement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington DC - J Street and their staff, represented by the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU), IFPTE Local 70, are proud to announce the ratification of a successor collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The agreement reflects a shared commitment to fostering a supportive, equitable, and inclusive workplace and marks a significant milestone in the partnership between J Street and its staff union.

The new contract includes substantial pay increases, with all bargaining unit members receiving at least a $5,000 raise effective January 2025, and a new minimum salary of $55,000. It also introduces severance protections for the first time in the event of layoffs, enhances workplace protections against harassment and discrimination, and increases the annual raise to a minimum of 5% for all staff meeting performance expectations. These advancements underscore a strengthened commitment to accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“We are thrilled to have secured stronger protections and salaries for our dedicated staff,” said Lexi Goldwyn who served on the union bargaining committee. “This agreement represents a significant step forward in ensuring fairness and equity in our workplace, and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

"On behalf of the board and management of J Street, I am deeply proud of the new contract which clearly expresses the organization's full long-standing commitment to the people who work here and to making J Street a 'best place to work,'” says Jeremy Ben-Ami, President at J Street. “Since the organization was launched, we've worked to ingrain a culture of continuous improvement in our workplace and culture. It's wonderful to have a productive partner in that effort in the J Street staff union."

The new agreement retroactively takes effect on January 1, 2025 and will remain in effect until December 31, 2027.

About J Street
J Street organizes pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy Americans to promote US policies that embody our deeply held Jewish and democratic values and that help secure the State of Israel as a democratic homeland for the Jewish people. We believe that only a negotiated resolution agreed to by Israelis and Palestinians can meet the legitimate needs and national aspirations of both peoples. Working in the American political system, in the Jewish community and with others with whom we share core values, we advocate for diplomacy-first American leadership and policies that advance justice, equality, peace, and democracy in Israel, in the wider region and in the United States as well.
