Innovation Law Lab and Staff Union Celebrate Ratification of First Collective Bargaining Agreement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Innovation Law Lab and its staff union, Law Lab United, represented by the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU), IFPTE Local 70, are proud to announce the ratification of their first collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The agreement, reached following the voluntary recognition of the union by management in September 2020, reflects a shared commitment to fostering a fair, supportive, and equitable workplace.

“This agreement is a landmark achievement for our staff and the organization,” said Aliya Naim, Co-Chair of the Law Lab United Bargaining Committee. “We are thrilled to have secured stronger protections, improved benefits, and fairer wages for our team. This contract lays a solid foundation for the future of Innovation Law Lab, the well-being of our staff, and our work in defense of immigrant communities.”

“We are joyous to have ratified a contract that promotes mutuality, protects the rights of employees, and ensures that Law Lab will continue to have a positive impact in the immigration space,” said Stephen Manning, Executive Director of Innovation Law Lab. “It was a long process that started in the chaos of a world pandemic, and we are proud to have this in place as we embark on the uncertainty of a new administration that will target our communities, making our fight for immigrant and refugee justice more important than ever.”

The new agreement took effect on January 10, 2025 and will remain in effect until March 31, 2028.
