MILWAUKEE, Oct. 26, 2020 - The staff of Voces de la Frontera have formed a union with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU). The union Voces Unidxs has asked Voces de la Frontera management for voluntary recognition.

Voces de la Frontera is a nonprofit, membership-based community organization led by low-wage workers, immigrants and youth that focuses on protecting and expanding civil rights and workers’ rights through leadership development, community organizing, and empowerment.

“By unionizing, we hope to affirm Voces de la Frontera’s role both as a leader in the fight for worker, immigrant, and student rights in our community and also as an organization that supports the collective voice of its workers,” said Voces Unidxs. “Voces Unidxs is excited for this opportunity and looks forward to collaborative negotiations with management that will accentuate our shared values and commitment to equality in all aspects.”

“We are so excited to welcome Voces Unidxs to NPEU,” said NPEU President Kayla Blado. “With Voces Unidxs, employees are living their values and gaining a greater say in their organization. We look forward to working with management on voluntary recognition of a fair and inclusive bargaining unit.”
