PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 22, 2020 - On Monday, Innovation Law Lab voluntarily recognized its staff union, Law Lab United (LLU) through card check. Law Lab United is part of the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU).
“We're delighted that Law Lab’s management team has officially recognized our union,” reported Law Lab United’s organizing committee. “We deeply appreciate the support and growing community of nonprofit unions. We look forward to the work ahead — at Law Lab and in our broader movements.”
"We recognize Law Lab United with excitement and pride," said Stephen W Manning, Executive Director at Innovation Law Lab. "Every day, Innovation Law Lab’s team fights for the rights and dignity of the brave people who dare to move across the face of the earth. The union offers a new way for people at Innovation Law Lab to be accountable to each other and for Innovation Law Lab to model the kind of relationship and mutuality we strive to build in the world."
“Congratulations to Law Lab United!” said NPEU President Kayla Blado. “We applaud ILL management for doing the right thing and promptly recognizing its staff union. By working collaboratively on a fair recognition agreement, ILL and Law Lab United have laid the foundation for productive negotiations for their first union contract. ILL’s staff union will give employees a greater voice to create a stronger, more sustainable organization.”
