NEW YORK, Oct. 9, 2020—The Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU)  is pleased to welcome the staff of the National Partnership for Women & Families into their ranks. Joining a growing list of workers organizing at progressive nonprofit organizations, the National Partnership staff made a formal request to management for voluntary recognition on October 6. NPEU looks forward to reaching a formal agreement very shortly.

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy group dedicated to achieving equity for all women. The organization works to create conditions that will improve the lives of  women and their families by focusing on attaining workplace and economic equity and advancing health justice by ensuring access to high-quality, affordable, and equitable care, especially for reproductive and maternal health. The National Partnership is committed to combating white supremacy and promoting racial equity, which requires abandoning race-neutral approaches and centering women of color's intersectional experiences.

National Partnership United Statement:

"We are firmly committed to equity for all people-- and that includes those of us working to advance that principle at the National Partnership. We believe, and history teaches us, that the only path to a truly equitable workplace is for all parties to have an equal voice. We are confident that the National Partnership's longstanding public record of support for all workers' right to unionize and be represented in the workplace will persuade management to recognize and begin collaborating with our union. Together we can build a workplace that is equitable and inclusive in every aspect, where all staff members are paid an adequate living wage and treated with dignity and respect."

NPEU Statement:

"Congratulations to National Partnership United! We look forward to collaborating with the union as they work to build a more equitable and inclusive workplace. And we're proud to have them join our movement," said NPEU President Kayla Blado. "We're hopeful that management quickly recognizes the union and builds the collaborative relationship that can move the organization forward. The inclusive and equitable workplace they envision is one we hope to achieve for every worker."
