The Hub Project has agreed to voluntarily recognize staff members’ vote to unionize and the selection of Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU) Local 70, IFPTE to be their collective bargaining representative. The organization and the staff bargaining unit released the following statements today:

Hub Union Organizing Committee Statement:

“Our members are as committed as ever to fighting the good fight with The Hub Project, an organization that values collective bargaining rights in its internal and external work. We are especially pleased that our bargaining unit includes a wide range of staff levels, from Assistants to Associate Directors, allowing our unit to fairly represent the range of day-to-day experiences of Hub Project employees.

This important work would not have happened without the support of the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU) throughout these negotiations. We are proud to join this union representing dozens of organizations across the nonprofit sector.

We look forward to the contract negotiation process, during which the Hub Union and Hub Project writ large will continue working to actualize our shared values and ensure equity, fairness, and transparency in our workplace.”

Statement from the Hub Project Executive Leadership Team - Executive Director Arkadi Gerney and Managing Directors Laura Hatasky (Policy and Research), Joel Payne (Communications), Danielle Kantor (Digital and Paid Media), Yolanda Townsend (Operations), Jenna Lowenstein (Campaigns) and Stasha Rhodes (Democracy):

“Our work is centered on creating a fairer economy and democracy for all, and every member of this organization believes that the right to organize and workers’ rights are core to those beliefs. We recognize the value of unions in reducing inequality, preserving civil and workers’ protections and raising wages for all workers.

“We are excited about working together with the bargaining unit to make the Hub the best, most equitable, and most effective organization it can be. We thank all the Hub staffers who've participated in the process to get to voluntary recognition for their effort, goodwill, and commitment to our organization's values.”

Statement from NPEU Interim President Katie Barrows:

“Congratulations to Hub Union on voluntary recognition. We are glad Hub Union and Hub management were able to work collaboratively on a voluntary recognition agreement. We look forward to supporting Hub Union as they negotiate their first contract.”
