SILVER SPRING, Md., Nov. 10, 2020 — The staff at the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., or CLINIC, have formed a union — with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU)  — called CLINIC Workers United. CLINIC Workers United has requested voluntary recognition from management at CLINIC.

CLINIC is the nation’s largest charitable legal immigration network with a mission to promote the dignity and protect the rights of immigrants.

“As a union, we strive to uphold the dignity and provide support to CLINIC staff in the same way that CLINIC serves its network and the immigrant community,” said the organizing committee for CLINIC Workers United. “We are eager to receive recognition from CLINIC management, which we anticipate will lead to productive collaborations ensuring an equitable, fair workplace for all staff.”

“We are so excited to welcome CLINIC Workers United to NPEU,” said NPEU President Kayla Blado. “By giving employees a voice, staff unions create stronger nonprofit organizations. This union will help CLINIC Workers United live out its Catholic values, which have a strong history of being pro-labor. We hope CLINIC management promptly recognizes CLINIC Workers United.”
