Jobs to Move America (JMA) and the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union, IFPTE Local 70 (NPEU), are excited to announce the signing of the organization’s second collective bargaining agreement (CBA). This successor contract builds on the progress that was made in the inaugural CBA three years ago and expands the rights and protections of JMA employees in the workplace.
“Coming into these negotiations we wanted to make equity a top priority. Our strong first contract gave us the opportunity this year to make sure the lowest paid staff at JMA got the largest pay increases and all employees get to enjoy a work life balance,” said Jasmin Vargas, who served on the union’s bargaining committee. “I’m glad that we were able to work collaboratively with our management team to make these improvements,” Jas added.
“JMA is extremely proud to have our staff represented by a union. We work around the country to make sure that workers have a voice and see this contract as upholding our values. We believe this is an extremely strong contract and hope it supports our staff in building careers here at JMA,” said Miranda Nelson, the National Director of Jobs to Move America.
JMA voluntarily recognized the staff union in January 2020 and the first contract was ratified 18 months later. The latest agreement will be in effect through November 2027.
Highlights of the new contract include:
$8,000 increase to the JMA salary floor
Increased longevity/annual raises
Contract ratification bonus with additional raises for lower-paid employees
New child care stipend of $75/day up to $1000/year for employees working outside of normal working hours.
Recognition of Indigenous People’s Day as a holiday, along with half-day Summer Fridays in June and July
Guarantee that new employees are eligible for health insurance within the first month of employment.
