WASHINGTON, Jan. 12, 2021 - The National Partnership for Women & Families has voluntarily recognized its staff union National Partnership United through card check. National Partnership employees are members of the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU).
Representatives of National Partnership United said, “Our members work to advance workers' rights each and every day as part of our duties at the National Partnership, and we are thrilled to now reflect this commitment as members of the labor movement ourselves. We’re happy that our organizing efforts have paid off, and excited to join a progressive movement for the rights of non-profit workers. We believe that management’s decision to recognize our union voluntarily bodes well for our future collaboration in making our workplace a more equitable space."
Debra L. Ness, President of the National Partnership for Women & Families, said, “The National Partnership and its management welcome this important milestone in the organization's history. Our mission and values call on us to support the rights of working people to organize. The formation of our staff union is a sign that we not only speak our values but we live them as well. We look forward to working with the union to improve our workplace and create the conditions in which all our staff can thrive and where women and people of color feel valued and seen. We believe that this is the only way to truly advance our mission of achieving equity and justice for all.”
"We are deeply excited to have National Partnership United join NPEU!" said NPEU President Kayla Blado. "This agreement represents the best of all outcomes where workers and management were able to collaborate on a fair voluntary recognition agreement. A staff union giving workers an equal voice in the workplace can only make the National Partnership a stronger and more effective organization in the quest to achieve equity for all women."
