WASHINGTON, Sept. 8, 2020 - The staff at Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF) has formed a union with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU). Feminist Majority Union has asked FMF management for voluntary recognition of their union.

The following is a statement from Feminist Majority Union on why they are unionizing:

“Since 1987, FMF has worked to advance the feminist movement and defend and expand women’s rights. Collective bargaining has always been a guiding principle of FMF’s work and we now ask our leadership to voluntarily recognize our union. Unions are feminist, and feminism needs unions.

As a supermajority of union-eligible staff from FMF and its programs and projects, we've organized to practice our values and ensure the ideals we uphold in our movement and the dreams we hold for the future of our world are paramount in our own workplace.”

“We are excited to welcome Feminist Majority Union to NPEU and the labor movement,” said NPEU President Kayla Blado. “Women’s rights are union rights, and with their union FMF staff will be able to more effectively advocate for feminism and the rights of women. We look forward to FMF management promptly recognizing its staff union.”
