WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2020— The staff at The Hub Project, in partnership with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU), have unionized and requested voluntary recognition from management.
The Hub Project is a progressive nonprofit that works with advocacy groups to build campaigns that organize communities, hold leaders accountable, and expand opportunities across America.
The Hub Union released the following statement:
“We, the staff of The Hub Project, are united by our commitment to make The Hub Project as equitable and effective an organization as possible.
As such, we have joined with the Nonprofit Professionals Employees Union and are excited to add our workplace alongside many other organizations dedicated to fairness, transparency, and worker solidarity.
The goals we have as a Union are clear and we are optimistic that an agreement between senior management and the Union can be reached. We are confident that the formation of the Hub Union is a crucial step toward actualizing our shared progressive values with The Hub Project.”
"We're excited to welcome the workers of the Hub Project to NPEU!" said NPEU President Kayla Blado. "The staff of the Hub Union work everyday to ensure the economy benefits everyone, and we know a crucial part of that is restoring bargaining power to workers. Having a union will let the workers of the Hub project have more of a voice at work and live the organization's progressive values."
