Center on Budget and Policy Priorities Management and Staff Ratify First Contract
Agreement Creates Stronger, More Effective Workplace
Washington, DC – The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), a nonpartisan research and policy institute, and employees represented by the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU), IFPTE Local 70 yesterday ratified the first collective bargaining agreement between CBPP and the staff union.
The contract expands worker voice, increases transparency in management practices, promotes equity, and increases compensation, paid time off and benefits particularly for new and lower-paid employees.
“We are proud of this agreement and excited about the direction it will take the organization as we work to advance CBPP’s mission,” said union bargaining representative and CBPP staff member Paul Jones. “I am so grateful to our bargaining unit members for the solidarity they all showed throughout negotiations.”
“The new contract will bring tangible benefits to employees,” said CBPP President Robert Greenstein. “The negotiation process and the contract itself reflect a spirit of cooperation and an emphasis on shared values. I’m proud of the work of the entire staff and our commitment to making CBPP the most effective organization it can be.”
“We are so excited for our members at CBPP,” said NPEU President Kayla Blado. “By negotiating with management, they’ve created a strong first contract that promotes equity and gives workers a stronger voice on the job.”
In support of the right of the Center’s staff to form a union, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in 2018 voluntarily recognized the staff union represented by NPEU.
